CyberGene Sounds to me like the typical Roland sound, overprocessed, bright, punchy, exaggerated, nasal at places. Most probably it’s all of their engines: sampled, supernatural, modeled. Not interested at all.

This is what I like. That Roland is making Roland piano. Not German, Italian or Nigerian. Just their own.

And remember - you don't like it, but there are thousands who will love it 🙂

I was charged $9.99 per minute, and the “representative” knew nothing about pianos, and on top of that, she kept asking “what are you wearing?”

It was the most unprofessional service, “how’s it hanging”, I’ve ever experienced, and yet they stuck me with a huge bill!

Roland piano sound is indeed popular among gigging musicians and for pop/smooth jazz, etc since it can cut through the mix and that’s not an easy thing to do. I don’t think Roland target classical musicians though, so everything is in its right place.

I prefer Roland's modelling to Pianoteq. It doesn't sound very real, but it's easier on the ears.

Johnstaf I agree. PianoTeq isn't very good at all sound wise! Roland, though hollow in the mids, is OK otherwise. The sound in the FP-90X is actually quite workable. Both modeling, but Roland is better than PianoTeq.
