pianow They do claim the ability for the user to "Control string" and "cabinet". This would very much indicate a modelling approach (one way or another).

Sounds to me like the typical Roland sound, overprocessed, bright, punchy, exaggerated, nasal at places. Most probably it’s all of their engines: sampled, supernatural, modeled. Not interested at all.

Sounds hollow, especially in the mids. Not exactly what I might describe a concert grand piano.

I don’t know really, but since that’s the technology Roland seems to be betting on I assumed it is a modelled engine.

I agree with you that the sound isn’t very appealing but that’s not what’s most interesting to me but rather that Roland is releasing a software piano that doesn’t require a Roland hardware. If such a major player does that, maybe they’ll force Yamaha or even Kawai (less likely) to do the same and that could be an interesting development. And maybe the competition will force Modartt to up their game in the modelling corner of the marked.

same here, i never liked Roland piano sounds, in matter of fact i don't like 99.999% of the onboard sounds on DPs but Roland is the least interesting at least for me.

They once charged me for a call to their customer service center, so no, Roland gives nothing for free, and I mean nothing!

Now, about this purported VST (not free), I’m not sure what they’re trying to do here….

Are they telling customers to “buy a Roland, but if you want to run our VST on that FP-90X you overpaid for, you’ll need to pay us some more!”

How do they get away with this kind of s#it; do we not have any government agencies protecting the customer from these predatory companies?

This is what I like. That Roland is making Roland piano. Not German, Italian or Nigerian. Just their own.

And that’s not even the worst part!

I was charged $9.99 per minute, and the “representative” knew nothing about pianos, and on top of that, she kept asking “what are you wearing?”

It was the most unprofessional service, “how’s it hanging”, I’ve ever experienced, and yet they stuck me with a huge bill!

Roland piano sound is indeed popular among gigging musicians and for pop/smooth jazz, etc since it can cut through the mix and that’s not an easy thing to do. I don’t think Roland target classical musicians though, so everything is in its right place.

i don't think so, but you can always press the "i ain't giva fawk" button and like my people say "listen to their words through your di-+💀"

it's not like their vst bullshit is essential to anyone's setup or anything, the vst Market is very big at the moment
