Hi everyone,
For those of you who might be hoping for a New York Steinway D library, starting today you have a new product. And this time, yours truly have created a few demos for it.
Introducing: Modern D by VI Labs!!! It's truly been years in the making, and I'm so happy to share this with the world!!!
Wow that’s a fantastic news! I’ve been wanting a proper grand piano with the Modern U engine but some recent (intentionally misleading, as it seems 😃) comments from VI Labs made me think that wouldn’t happen. And now this! Brilliant. What’s your honest opinion about it?
You can hear for yourself the demos and videos, but I feel I've just found my desert island piano VST with the Modern D. It's a concert grand VST that has the lyricism of Ivory II American D, but with the quality and detail of Modern U. Now we also have versatility of a great modern New York D.

This and your two Chopin recordings are enough! Purchased. Thank you and the VI Labs team 🙏🏻
CyberGene I’m happy for you! And I have to confess, now I may have to delete a couple of old companions. Goodbye, Garritan CFX, hello VI Labs Modern D.
Wow, I'm so psyched! They really managed to keep a tight lid on this - I thought their next release would be much farther down the road based on their recent communications.
In any case, I plan to purchase and download as soon as I can.
If it's anything like the Modern U in terms of realism and playability, this could set the new benchmark level.
jdg78 i’ve been playing it every day now, it really sets a very high bar for them. I don’t know how they are going to top this!
And it’s just 18 GB. I may not be able to test it immediately since I’m way too tired these days with so many work… But I can’t wait to test it!
CyberGene when you have a good velocity curve to go with it, it plays so well!
I've now listened to most of your demo's, and of course the playing is wonderful, but that was not surprising. The sound however is; these sound like recordings of a real piano being played. That's quite unusual, and I have for example never found the VSL demo's convincing in this respect.
QuasiUnaFantasia it’s interesting that you should say that. Sometimes when I play the piano dry, without any reverb, I have a déjà vu feeling that I was in my professor’s studio having a lesson.

wh..wha!!!! whaaat?!??!?!??
now first of all the interface looks gorgeous
For VPC1 users, please use this curve. It can work either with the default or ivory curves on the keyboard. Have fun!
Renamed the discussion, so that it's clear what it is about 🙂
CyberGene Thank you!
And if you want to check out videos, here's a playlist.

I can believe it, and coming from you that is very high praise. The demos sound amazing. In any case, I've already purchased it and plan to download this evening when I get home from work.
Will report back once I've had a chance to give it a good run through!
