Hi, I am new to the forum, registered out of interest for piano silent systems.

I live in Germany and I am interested in the Yamaha VSH3 retrofit kit. From what I can read here, Mr. Queue99 can ship these Kits from Japan an probably you all got it from him, right?

Yes, I still read (silently) this forum. Here I can just confirm it’s perfectly okay to retrofit a standard modern upright with a Yamaha 3rd gen silent system.

@Queue99 is the best to answer properly, while I can give my honest feedback from a end-user perspective (see my previous post).

JPY is currently very low against EUR, so it’s the perfect time to buy (add ~23% for import taxes).

Hi,

I live in France. Yes, it was easy with the fast shipping option. Upon arrival on your EU territory, you have to clear the import taxes. Only then, the good is released from the customs office located in the airport and can be delivered to your home. Practically, you allow the local shipping company to pay the taxes for you at the customs, then you pay the same amount to the person delivering to your home.

The total delivery time from end to end is around 3 weeks.

AlecGB yes, except the hammer stop bar, which was already installed. There is no particular difficulty, provided you take your time and pay attention to details (my advice is to first level and space evenly your keyboard).

I see many people here complaining about the feeling of digital keyboards. The advantage of the silent system is that you keep an authentic acoustic piano action. Moreover, you can regulate the action to your likings, which is not possible with a DP. Personally, I love the feeling of my upright.

Paulo164 okay I understand, I already have a silent system (yahama from 2000) in my piano but it’s old now, so I’m considering the upgrade. But the update will be made my piano tech, I won’t do that myself. But let’s keep in touch, when I’ll buy my system, I’ll ask you for advice. It seems quite challenging. My keyboard is leveled I guess only one keys sits lower than all the others and my piano tech comes soon to check that so I hope it’s gonna be fixed. But space I don’t see strange gaps between keys but I’ll take a look

Some technicians say that installation of mute rail is the most important and hardest part of the task. It needs to be very precise.

Very hard to install, I don’t know. But I reckon it would take me several trials to achieve the desired result, which is coming the closest possible to the string, once engaged, while stopping the hammers.

When you engage the mute rail, it moves from the same course from left to right of the keyboard. So what you don’t want is to have the rail perfectly adjusted on one side of the keyboard but not on the other side. Probably you need to insert some spacers to get close to the strings in an equal manner.

How much does the RSC3 system cost approximately with shipping to Germany? Would it fit a Pfeiffer 112 Upright?

I am thinking of getting a silent system, but am not entirely convinced by adsilent 2. It would be okay, but the Yamaha certainly is better.
