I have never tried any other Casio than the GP series. Can anybody tell me what is so good about the APs and where the improvement is?

It seems that Casio follows Roland with an hybrid keyboard (here Smart Hybrid Hammer Action Keyboard CELVIANO Edition). The keyboard is even smart!! Funny how the magical hybrid word is reused for anything and becomes meaningless.

However, I had already tried a Tri Sensor II which was used in the whole Casio line of piano (before the GP)… an upgrade was needed !

I contacted Casio about “how smart your action, and can it tackle the Hammerklavier on demand”?

“Hey Action, play me the Hammerklavier!”

Here’s what they said:

“Whilst our action is indeed quite smart, it cannot handle that piece -on demand- at the moment.”

It seems like their action isn’t so smart, after all; heck, it’s starting to look dumb to me, and short of just laying there, the action, and waiting to be pounded by someone’s fingers, I don’t understand how Casio came to the conclusion that it is “smart.”

I want my money back!

I think that if they can sell these instruments, given their overblown teaser, then that really does constitute smart action from Casio.

Not to be paranoid, but this “smart action” seems like an action you’d take to deceive us all, for it is well known that you have no limits when it comes to marketing your stuff!

I don't even own a calculator by Casio, let alone a musical instrument.

Of course, that proves nothing, but being an official Roland product owner, I am taking a wait-and-see approach to Casio (and by not introducing a GP-520 this time around they are making me wait somewhat longer ... yet time is not on their side).

Okay, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt, but if I find out that indeed you’re a Casio agent, all hell will break loose!

Now, assuming you’re one of us, yes, I’d say you wait some more, and who knows if the second time around the “teaser” will hold up to the release: a barebones, does-only-one-thing (piano), but-does-it-very-well “hybrid” (powered by a Bechstein grand action)!

I own a CT-S1, don't use it, but it is a very charming instrument with really good quality build, sound, styling, action, for the category instrument it is.

This was my disappointment as well, I was rather curious about this earlier this week. However, I'd be (more than) happy with a GPC-1 controller with the "Bechstein" action. I'd be quite seriously interested in such a contraption.

I don't what Casio did here, but the samples for 750 are horrid. It sounds like cheap Korean digital.
