The recent bans on PianoWorld

QuasiUnaFantasia

I just received a private message from PW's Frank, in which he informed me that my "Heads-up" thread had been "moved", because it had "turned into a platform for promoting another web site". It seems to no longer be reachable.

Well, I wouldn’t blame him but we are already saturated at slightly more than 50 now with no prospects of growing more than that. The first 30-40 users registered in the first two days. After that it had been sporadic. Totally unnecessary to delete that thread. I’m wondering if he would ban me for creating this forum 😀

QuasiUnaFantasia turned into a platform for promoting another web site

Don't promote YouTube! That's offensive.

It seems Pete14 is on holiday from PW, as he has not been seen since the banning.

There is another thread looking for him now active in PW. Perseverance is the key!

CyberGene Well, I wouldn’t blame him but we are already saturated at slightly more than 50 now with no prospects of growing more than that.

What can be done to raise the profile of PianoClack?

CyberGene

David B What can be done to raise the profile of PianoClack?

That's a good question. I think adding more good (digital) piano content will inevitably lead to appearing in more Google search results and naturally attracting more people.

To be frank to Frank (no pun intended), my idea about this forum was to create a playground for off-topic, i.e. to serve as an additional sub-forum to PW and not a competition. But seems the forum took its own path and people started creating piano related threads, moving here and even swearing to not post on PW anymore 😲 Well, I won't discourage it and if people feel comfortable here and prefer to "move in" here rather than just "visit it occasionally", then that's great!

CyberGene

I will split this topic and extract the "pronoun" stuff in another thread and possibly some other PC (politically correct, not PianoClack 😉) talk in its own thread.

What did you write there?

Perhaps he missed this memo and sees this as a total competition, which is how I think most users are doing (as you say). Maybe you can be frank with him by sending a PM about this? And point to this one message where you say so in public?

QuasiUnaFantasia

I simply informed the other members of the forum that MacMacMac, Pete14, and MBig had been banned. There then started a several pages long discussion about this. At some point during this, CG announced his new website as a place to entertain off-topic discussions.

Well, I don't know. I'm not even sure I know what his username on the forum is, I've never communicated with him and I've only heard people referring to him as Frank. I feel slightly uncomfortable to contact him directly like that. BTW, I think he might be reading this forum, who knows... If he reads it, I hope he understands and sees how things are. I have no bad feelings for PW. I'm really sorry if I have caused him some troubles with this forum.

I don't know what can be accomplished by that PM. PianoClack is and always be on a collision course with the digital subforum of PW. Maybe they will coexist, maybe one disappears… No need to apologise over creating a new forum, like Frank (or any one else) does not need to apologise if they still prefer to post there and not here…

CyberGene That's a good question. I think adding more good (digital) piano content will inevitably lead to appearing in more Google search results and naturally attracting more people.

A more modern web application will be preferred by search engines. That's just how things are. This platform properly supports HTTP over TLS. That alone will make it preferable.

CyberGene my idea about this forum was to create a playground for off-topic, i.e. to serve as an additional sub-forum to PW and not a competition.

It's just a website offering something for free (without serving ads) due to technological advancement, what someone else offers as a paid service. Even without serving adverts. Competition would be about making money.

If seems that deletion of the PW heads-up thread occurred since yesterday when you and i had a little dialog here about that very thing ( in the Pet14 Ban thread here).

I reread that PW thread yesterday before our little exchange here and just checked again 5 minutes ago . It’s been moved alright …. best i can tell it’s been moved to somewhere not visible….. so, somewhere between now and yesterday they proved me wrong , for which - i stand corrected. 🙂

This does reveal a little about some folks there with eyes on here, lurking 👀 ….. who knows? Perhaps they may learn a thing or two 😀

A good enhancement would be to add keywords (with a SEO extension), but I don't know how much search engine care of them.

Frédéric L A good enhancement would be to add keywords (with a SEO extension), but I don't know how much search engine care of them.

Just installed the SEO extension and provided all the required information. I've also registered with Bing and Yahoo search consoles, in addition to Google. Hopefully the search results and indexing will get even better now.

vagfilm

I tried a couple of thread keyword searches. If I google "autosavemidi" I get a PianoClack hit in 4th place (after pianoworld, a stackoverflow thread I created, some midi file if a song called autosave (!) and finally PC). If I google "recent bans pianoworld" the first his is PC, but if I google "yamaha n1x owners" or "good piano related books", I get only hits from PW…

Maybe some threads on "kawai ca99 problem", "yamaha nu1x loud note" or "roland piano clicking key", would increase traffic… 😊

CyberGene

I searched for Cybrid but alas no results 🙁 Anyway, I think with today's additions I have provided everything Google needs to be able to crawl and index the forum, so with time and with more content and more people clicking on the search results it will get even better 🙂

vagfilm

CyberGene you can add a reference to the cybrid pianoclack thread in your YT videos…

CyberGene

vagfilm

Exactly what I did yesterday 😉 I specifically created that thread, so that I can point to it.
