Hello all, Really a very good idea. Opening this forum in parallel with PW, thank you very much. On the subject of the ban. First of all I would like to say that I am very sorry about all this. Especially the fact that the thread was closed because of my OT. I would like to apologise again to everyone in the forum and especially to you, Tyr. Regarding the incident itself, I can only say that apart from the posts as they are to be read in the thread, no other posts were made. So no direct attack or denigration of a member. I was banned without warning. My ban lasts until 10/15. How long Mac and Pete have been banned I can't say of course. As soon as my ban is over I will immediately contact the admin and ask for the thread to be unlocked. If I have to give up my account at PW for this, or if a small compensation for the administrative process would be necessary, this is also fine with me. I absolutely agree with my ban because of OT, but not so much with the fact that the thread was closed immediately. I am against colective punishment. I also think that Mac and Pete were punished too harshly. I apologise again so much, Tyr. Feel free to post this in the thread at PW as well. As long as it helps to clarify the situation. Hi Guys,

I'm mostly reading on PW forum and I have to admit that I sometimes only read the off topic discussions.

I really enjoyed some of those and permanent bans for being off topic crossed a line for me…

Off course the main topic is about piano related stuff, but a little bit of fun should be allowed.

vagfilm Now seriously: PianoClack is a "piano" forum, and is in serious need of piano-related discussions. I know this is the silly season of piano announcements (no new models will be announced until Christmas, NAMM may be cancelled or reduced, the seasoned PW members that packed and moved their tent here are not going to post something like "Help! suggestions for a digital piano with real action and Steinway tone under 200 dollars… Any ideas?"), but any post somehow related with piano (heck, even pivot length!!!) is needed in order to keep the momentum going. My 2 cents…

Great observation.

I'm trying to move some of the topics I was interested in at PW over to here in the hope of attracting new members and continuing the discussion on PianoClack. Don't be afraid to start new threads with "old" topics that have already been addressed at PW. The discussion can attract new interests to this forum.

Well, honestly, but don't shoot me for this, my idea for this forum was indeed to be for off-topic 😀 As I stated initially, to not steal people from PW because PW is enormous and has gathered a lot of knowledge and audience for piano talks. I really doubt that we can recreate that here or gather so many people for a fresh piano forum start, etc.

But I am not opposed to that in any way. It's just that I am a bit skeptical this will work. But who knows 🙂 I see a lot of enthusiasm for piano related talks.

I too am skeptical for the longer term, but ….. lets see where this goes.

To speculate, it may be just a matter of time required for the energy/exuberance over this new found freedom to subside to the point that pure piano talk prevails over the longer haul ….. or it/we all go down in flames having failed at maintaining responsibility that comes with the neighborhood of availing …. using freedom.

Meanwhile, i’m really liking the diametrically-opposed nature of this brand of PC-speak here compared to the otherwise prevailing, state-enforced version that governs the way the globalized world goes around …. lopsided as it inherently is. 🌍🔨‼️

I hope it gains traction as a piano-centered forum (not necessarily piano exclusive and certainly banter friendly - I prefer OT posts rather than topics that change subject…), since I am not a social media person and need to follow a forum to keep aware of the news in digital pianos…

I just received a private message from PW's Frank, in which he informed me that my "Heads-up" thread had been "moved", because it had "turned into a platform for promoting another web site". It seems to no longer be reachable.

Well, I wouldn’t blame him but we are already saturated at slightly more than 50 now with no prospects of growing more than that. The first 30-40 users registered in the first two days. After that it had been sporadic. Totally unnecessary to delete that thread. I’m wondering if he would ban me for creating this forum 😀

It seems Pete14 is on holiday from PW, as he has not been seen since the banning.

There is another thread looking for him now active in PW. Perseverance is the key!

That's a good question. I think adding more good (digital) piano content will inevitably lead to appearing in more Google search results and naturally attracting more people.

To be frank to Frank (no pun intended), my idea about this forum was to create a playground for off-topic, i.e. to serve as an additional sub-forum to PW and not a competition. But seems the forum took its own path and people started creating piano related threads, moving here and even swearing to not post on PW anymore 😲 Well, I won't discourage it and if people feel comfortable here and prefer to "move in" here rather than just "visit it occasionally", then that's great!

Perhaps he missed this memo and sees this as a total competition, which is how I think most users are doing (as you say). Maybe you can be frank with him by sending a PM about this? And point to this one message where you say so in public?

I simply informed the other members of the forum that MacMacMac, Pete14, and MBig had been banned. There then started a several pages long discussion about this. At some point during this, CG announced his new website as a place to entertain off-topic discussions.

Well, I don't know. I'm not even sure I know what his username on the forum is, I've never communicated with him and I've only heard people referring to him as Frank. I feel slightly uncomfortable to contact him directly like that. BTW, I think he might be reading this forum, who knows... If he reads it, I hope he understands and sees how things are. I have no bad feelings for PW. I'm really sorry if I have caused him some troubles with this forum.

I don't know what can be accomplished by that PM. PianoClack is and always be on a collision course with the digital subforum of PW. Maybe they will coexist, maybe one disappears… No need to apologise over creating a new forum, like Frank (or any one else) does not need to apologise if they still prefer to post there and not here…
