Back in the 60’s, there was an expression that whatever was trending in fads out in fruitcake land, it would take 20 years, give or take, for same fads to make the trek cross-country to fully infect the east coast. The Atlantic ocean was relied upon as a similar buffer from cultural trends invading from the Eastern side of the pond. This was of course before the era of ubiquitous, 24x7-365 MSM noise reporting being broadcast from the global WTTN - What To Think Network ( which now includes Internet as a gain-of-function multiplier).
All of this has of course required revision to that old expression to somewhere around 20 days to 20 seconds, give or take, because, like piano preferences, everyone’s WTTN mileage may vary 😀.
