Thanks! As there are IMO no other alternatives I purchased the Yamaha NU1X again. My only complaint with it was the "loud note" issue as you all can remember I think. Other than that - the real action, the pedals, the looks, the samples, the sound system and the audio interface and its implementation (gorgeous VST sound via speaker) - were excellent. That's the one tiny compromise I now am convinced I can live with. And as I learned EVERY digital piano has at least one major flaw (even the N1X that doesn't suffer from the loud note issue, but has a subpar sound system and a significant price increase compared to the N1X). The only Instruments that aren't compromises are the Yamaha/Kawai Silent Grands (ATX4/SH2) without the modified let-off compared to after-market silent systems, but they let you pay for that. 😉 Oh, but thats a story for an other thread.

Kawai have had problems with their plastic actions too and with various other components. Their QC seems to not be very strict and things only get worse when then try to produce something more prone to problems such as a wooden action.

That is true.

But to the purchaser it doesn't matter. He wants a proper, working piano.
Regardless of what's "under the hood", it's just supposed to work.

If it's faulty it reflects badly on the manufacturer.
Kawai has been getting too many bad reflections these past several years.

I decided to send it back. I don't want to keep a faulty barely movable unit without the possibility to let it be serviced it at home. It's a shame, but let's be real: my FP-30 is not bad either.

Hats off to Roland for offering such a good quality action, consistence, pedals and MIDI-control capabilities in the FP10 and FP30 at this price point. FP10/30 + Pianoteq is the best performance for buck in the piano industry imo.

Hey Del Vento, thanks! Yes, I've seen it, but until now I haven't looked deeper into it. Very very promising!

After all the VSL trials only made me love Pianoteq more than ever.
