johanibraaten yes, I played the K-400 as a normal acoustic piano and the touch is noticeable different than the ATX version, but not in a bad way. My K-400 AR2 is a special order, I just took the risk because I need the silent function for practicing. Actually, you can get nearly all combinations from Kawai if you ask your dealer to contact the Kawai headquarters, for example the K-800 with Sostenuto and ATX4 I also requested. Kawai officially doesn’t sell the K-400 in Germany, but they do in other countries. I was able to compare the K-500 & K-600 both in the acoustic and the Aures2 versions. Also here I noticed a difference, maybe the acoustic version feels a little bit better. But the thing with pianos is, that even two instruments from the same manufacturer and the same model number will never have the same touch. From the brands I’ve tested the Japanese ones seems to be the most consistent. The Millennium III action in general was great in all the models I’ve tested. Another thing I noticed is on the ATX versions the soft pedal can’t be tuned to a very short travel distance, because of the way the optical hammer sensing system is designed. But one anyway adapts to the instrument and the other way round, I noticed that the action got even better after a few weeks torturing it with daily Hanon, Scales and Arpeggios 😀.
