But that’s the thing, most “people” have never even played an acoustic; so you see, to them, the digital is the only piano they know, and the acoustic is an unattainable thing reserved for the gods, like your precious Argerich!
Surely, Barenboim will never be satisfied by anything less than a huge D, but, once again, he’s a god riding high upon the clouds whilst the rest of us, merely peasants, are just trying to piece together a puzzle that seems to have no end in sight, working from 9 to 5 so as to give our chillun a chance at a better life, but deep down inside we know that they (the chillun) don’t stand a chance at anything but to serve the master-god……
I am a peasant, too, but it could be argued that I was once a lucky boy-peasant, for I had access to my master’s acoustic, and whence he was traveling ‘round the world, I got to tinker with it, the acoustic; until one day he returned earlier than expected from one of his trips to the Mediterranean and caught me “red-handed” tinkering with his acoustic; I was forever banned from his castle, never to see an acoustic again……
