Modern D system requirements (PC)

CyberGene Dear Cybergene, Vi labs is having a Black Friday sale, last two days. It's a good time to buy Modern D. I'm currently using Ivory II with Lenovo Z500 laptop. It has 8GB ram, i5 processor and GT 740M Nvidia. Lenovo Z-500 can run Ivory II without any difficulty. But I don't know if it can run Modern D without any difficulty. The other day I installed VSL Soft Imperial which can run without a license, but my computer couldn't run VSL Soft Imperial properly. That's why I thought Lenovo Z-500 might have difficulty running Modern D. Can I ask your opinion on this? Kind regards Utku Gunenc

pianow This seems a bit difficult at this stage of your life. Playing and recording a song without any errors and dealing with minor editing tasks takes some time and energy.

David B sounds like it's a server issue on their end.

Maybe because of black Friday/Modern D traffic?

I'm just guessing… I have the cheapest Internet possible (however in a regular built-up area) and my earlier VI Labs downloads didn't take significantly long at all.

Jose EB5AGV Ivory 2 and Garritan Cfx worked fine on this laptop. I hope it works on Modern D. I asked that question before ordering. I'm trying to download it right now. If it doesn't work properly, I'll try to find a solution, because I bought it now. Thanks for your interest.

I can finally finish downloading Modern D. It is a really good instrument. I am currently sleepless, I haven't slept yet. I can say something about Modern D as I use it. But my first impressions are very, very good. My biggest obsession was to get a soft tone with soft touches and this feature is available. The pedal resonance that you can adjust the dose is very successful. For the first time, I hear a sustain pedal tone like a real piano on a digital piano. This changes everything. There are different presets and different piano samples. You can use the one you like the most in terms of tone. And there are many things you can change and personalize on any preset you choose. Timbre and microphone selections make huge changes. Of course, reverb options also change a lot. A few days ago, I uploaded a piece that I played with Ivory Italian Grand on this page. I want to upload the same piece with Modern D and make a poll. Actually, the winner is already clear, but what are the differences you heard or what are the good qualities of both? I would like to open this up for discussion. See you soon..

Utku_Piano Windows 10 update broke the piano software from working properly.

After Windows 10 updates, Modern D became unplayable. Fortunately, I had previously copied a backup of the system to a USB HDD. Thanks to the system backup, after quickly restoring the computer to its pre-Windows update state, Modern D started working properly again. I turn off Windows 10 updates with the tutorials on YouTube, but after installing a program or restarting, the updates are turned on again. Is there anyone who is as bothered by this situation as I am or has found a solution to this problem?

I have recently solved an annoying issue where I get occasional performance hiccups even though I previously had gone through the cantabile guide for other VSTs. I think I made two changes, but the one that I remember and I'm pretty sure made a difference, I disabled in real time protection on Windows defender. Now it seems I have no performance issues at all.

The other thing might have been to turn off Wi-Fi completely, even though I previously was aware of that need I had become lazy about it. But I really think it was the antivirus that was causing problems. Probably more detailed ways to configure it to ignore these files but for now turning it off is nice and simple.

Pathbreaker Sometimes I also suspect microsoft defender and disable it. But Windows automatically turns it on again. Annoying.

For me, biggest difference for windows audio performance was power management settings. I've ended up using ParkControl utility. It's not required but much more convenient than manual settings. I should note that this is for an old laptop. Any modern laptop shouldn't require turning off the antivirus.

My problem was not caused by antivirus because real-time protection and others were already disabled. The piano software, which worked fine before the Windows update, stopped working properly after the Windows update and after reinstalling the system backup, the problem was solved, but since I can't permanently disable Windows 10 updates, I always check if it is enabled or not, if it opens by itself, and this is not normal Windows usage, it makes me nervous. I am constantly fighting with it.

Hi Utku_Piano, I think you can block or limit Windows updates to a specific maximum version through the registry if you do not want to apply any further updates. For some guidance, you may refer to the link I found below.
