I've listened to the demos and also like the tone Orchestral Grand, another Steinway D from TT. I don't know how good the playability is though. I guess its playability can only compare with Claire, 'cause seems like it's for production.

The NI 360 subscription offers a 2 week trial period during which you can try out any instrument included in the plan (which, depending on the plan you select, includes Claire). As long as you cancel before the end of the trial period, it’s effectively a free demo.

Ok quick update. I signed up to NI’s 360 free trial and have been trying out Claire earlier today and I don’t really think it’s an upgrade from Noire. I would say it sounds different and has some nice sound design options but as a pure piano sound, I think I actually prefer Noire.

As a result I’ve decided to buy Vi-Labs Modern-D.

Looking forward to trying it out thoroughly over the next few days.

Good choice. Claire is nice, but quite similar to Noire, and more of a supplemental instrument for special use cases, IMO.

Modern D is much more versatile and an everyday workhorse.
