Pete14 Alright, I'm not going to argue with you, because you are weird.

David Lai Alright, I'm not going to argue with you, because you are weird.
But David, I thought we were just a couple of friends having a friendly discussion, and then you go and call me “weird;” how rude of you!!!
Pete14 We don't agree on so many things, I don't know how you describe our discussions as "friendly." "Respectful," yes, "friendly," no. And if I feel like we've exhausted the subject enough, I'll control myself from saying anymore. Therefore, I'm out of this discussion, despite the fact I still disagree with you on what you say. This here original was about my joy of finding my "desert island VST," and I'll still say this final thing -- Modern D is great, and for me, it's the ultimate concert grand experience I can get from home. And that's enough for me!!!
Pete14 You do know that with your kind of ‘linguistic logic’ we will crash upon landing on Mars? So no, “Houston” can’t simply say to the astronauts “you’re about ten feet from landing on Mars,” they have to be exact, to the letter, and precise!
the poor guy's trying to land on mars while we're distracting him with talking about the pianoteq playability
shame on us man 🙂
Okay, David, let’s not overreact here!
You can stay (it’s your thread after all), and I’ll just take the high road, because unlike Pianow, I do have manners!
Some day, there will be AI-trained piano vis just like AI-trained voice packs of Synthesizer V. And that's a new league different from Acoustic, Sampled, Modelled, Hardware and Smapled.
Once upon a time…
… In the West, Here, There, and in All Other Quadrants …
.. this thread was about a new piano simulation called Modern D.
That is, if I remember correctly.
🤷
Cheers and happy weekend to all,
HZ
LOL, this discussion remember me of 30 years ago when I got myself an Atari computer and got mocked by the Amiga guys😀
MacMacMac
😂😂😂😂😂😂
HZPiano .. this thread was about a new piano simulation called Modern D.
never heard of it
johanibraaten Rightly so, because the Amiga was clearly superior (except for midi capabilities) :-) !!!
Irmin Rightly so, because the Amiga was clearly superior (except for midi capabilities) :-) !!!
Man, you take me right back to my childhood anxieties😊
Given the thread has veered off anyway:
Earliest digital experiences:
😋
Everything after that was useful but, in a sense, rather boring in comparison.
Cheers and happy fond memories,

HZPiano I began with a humble Commodore VIC20 back in May 1982 (when I was just 14). That was a revelation for me and the seed of a successful(*) programmer career (along with electronics, which began some years before, at 10, with an electronic circuits assembly "toy")
Those were the times! 🥲
Jose
(*)Well, I never got a degree on programming (my grade was on Telecommunication Engineering with surprisingly little real programming; I knew already quite a lot more) but was able to work 22 years mainly on it, so I consider that a success. Now I am kind of retired on programming and devoted to electronics (and music, when time allows 😉)
I guess for me, my only experience with electronics that have anything to do with playing music started with a gifted Yamaha Nu1. So from that, to some pirated Kontakt pianos I downloaded from various websites (because I had no money and didn't know better), to then having some money to invest in Garritan CFX and Ravenscroft 275, and now to being gifted some VSTs out of generosity of friends and forum members… I'm beyond grateful!!!
HZPiano 1'st computer I ever 'played on' was an Apple II. My first computer was a VIC 20, I guess around 1982. Then a C64 where I learnt 6502 assembly and had hours of fun making music with the SID Chip. After that various IBM Clones, Soundblaster and finally a gravis ultrasound. I miss the old days programming the hardware directly, although can still get that with things like Arduino, PI PICO etc . I was tremendously jealous of the Amiga owners…
Jose EB5AGV when I was just 14
Wow you're young! You're right in-between my brother and myself.
Yes, I played with that VIC-20 as well but didn't own one. Same for the ZX Spectrum, ZX 81, BBC Micro, TI 99, and others.
Like you, I learned so much from all that tinkering and translated that to decades of income from "the business", in my case as a business/IT consultant, trainer and project manager. My customers were very happy, I was super bored and not happy, still hard working and giving my all, resulting in burnout. I'm glad I'm out and will never be back.
I should have stayed with the creative computer spirit just as back then, and am happy to now stick my toe in those waters again. Carefully.
Indeed,
HZ
PS I can't seem to get that emoji in normal size. Oh well...
Irmin C64 where I learnt 6502 assembly and had hours of fun making music with the SID Chip
Yes! Same here! Likewise on my Oric (the only one I still have!) which featured a 6510, same assembler language as the 6502. I built interfaces for that to operate peripherals and whatnot. So much fun.
Cheers and happy 8-bit days,
HZ
