Neither Am I.

On the contrary, I’ve been giving Casio the benefit of the doubt, and despite hating that hideous decal -CASIO- I like that they are in a partnership with Bechstein, and I’m hopeful this will yield a full-blown hybrid baby!

Now, as it relates to the new Celviano, I’ve been a bit confused about Casio’s claim that these are “smart,” and more than once I’ve given Mike the opportunity to set the record straight, but he has not responded.

Still, we await thee, Mike Martin, and I personally assure you a warm-if-candid welcome at the behest of PC….we are a peaceful people!

This isn't a secret. When they came up with PX-S, "smart" was an excuse to go back to 2-sensor tech from earlier 3-sensor.

Smart or not so smart... but does the AP750 have the same action as the GP310/510 and identical 3 sensors? There is that Bechstein badge on the left side. If it has that action, one could forget the rest of the instrument and just buy it as a decent VST controller instead of investing in a more expensive GP310/510.

It’s a new ‘hybrid’ action with some wood (akin to NWX, PHA-50, etc).

I do stand a bit intrigued; even if it turns out the new Celvi ain’t so smart; because it does have 8 speakers, and the cabinet seems ‘decent-looking,’ and the action, whilst probably not “smart”, might be able to compete against the status quo…..

Now, some have claimed the pivots are short, but I don’t believe we have official confirmation on this, and other than Casio saying “it’s a grower, not a shower,” we won’t know for sure until someone shows us (nekid pictures).

I wonder if the new Celvi is now meant to compete with the likes of Clavinova and LX; therefore, leaving room for a hybrid (replacing the GP) to compete with the AvantGrand and Novus?

“ActionPete” lives a quiet, almost non-existent, incognito life, and only when action is of essence (no pun intended) does he appear to set the action straight, level the pivot-field, and destroy bad actions with his laser-beam-guided hatred for the mediocre (action).

Casio’s new “smart” action is now on his radar, and once again, if this action fails at a junction both urgent and necessary, “he”, ActionPete, will aim to annihilate!

It’s been confirmed: short pivots!

But let us not make assumptions on the basis of length, for I made that mistake once, and it turned out that the longer pivot, which Kawai claimed “concert-like,” left me wanting for more despite its purported superiority over the short RM3 action; an action I loved despite its shortcomings (no pun intended).

Some ‘round here have been making fun of Casio’s “smart” approach as it relates to the action, but I ask, what if the smart part has to do with the action holding up and delivering a good experience despite?

Yes, sometimes I like to play the devil’s advocate; so sue me (I’m looking at you, Mac).😲
