Mac, we are trying to have a serious conversation, so I ask, would you mind!?
Now, back to the serious matter at hand:
I just noticed the nerds “elsewhere” posted some pictures of the “sensors” in the new NU1X-A, and from a layman’s perspective, they do look somewhat simple, almost like the sensor-boards used for cheaper folded actions; what gives?
Yamaha says these sensors are better (why wouldn’t they?), but they give us no specifics as to why, other than, “fancy magnets at work” 🧲
They talk about these sensors needing less maintenance because there are less parts, but the cynic in me thinks: less parts = less cost.
For the record: there still exists many a’ GrandTouch out there going strong since 1998, and them old, “maintenance-prone” sensors seem just fine; other than the occasional mishap; never mind the AvantGrand, unless any of you know of an AvantGrand needling some major sensor work…
I truly was taken by the new sensors, but the less real data and more BS, “maintenance, I say,” I get from Yamaha, the more skeptical I get.
P.S.
Perhaps those owning a current AG, which I mistakenly labeled “the elephant” in the room, should value it more than ever, because unless we get some real info on these new AG, the jury is still out on whether they move the ball forward, or if Yamaha has indeed dropped the ball….
