Interesting, how the “lower volume” has been mentioned before, and I wonder if some of it has to do with the new speaker configuration (upward-facing woofer and bi-directional tweeters) giving the “impression” of less power and volume; because the sound is being spread out in all directions?
Yamaha purportedly said that the new configuration was “room” oriented instead of “player” oriented, and I wonder if that was a mistake given that they didn’t add more speakers, nor did they beef up the amps.
For example, the bi-directional “tech” is no more than a contraption that splits the tweeter output to fire from the back and front instead of the old approach where the tweeter fired from the front only. On paper this looks great (more/better sound dispersion), but it could also result in a weaker sound from the front (player) because the tweeter is being “stretched” to its limits (once again, they did not change the amps).
This video shows the tweeter contraption and more (go to 22:00).

I also noticed huge escapement ports mid height (where subwoofers sit); which, once again, appears like a good thing, but it could be that “too much” sound escapes through these back openings; further giving the impression of a lower volume to the player sitting in front of the piano?
