I’m not really convinced by these overcomplicated workstations such as Montage, Fantom, etc. I’m wondering how many people buy them and if there’s any downward trend considering I rarely see them on stages nowadays. Most keyboardists I see live seem to prefer simple and direct keyboards like Nords, Yamaha CP/YC/CK along with a second keyboard such as an analog synth and also a Mac with MainStage.

I remember what PITA making a simple split on the MODX was, glad I sold it 😀

But anyway, these keyboards have their fanbase too, I know you @EB5AGV are really fond of the Montage and even have two of them. Let’s see what the next Montage will bring. Maybe we will finally see the AN-X virtual analog engine because that’s where Montage/MODX were behind the competition.

CyberGene Yes, I have two MONTAGE 6 (one black, one white) and a MODX6+. Well, I am not a great player and those beasts are more than enough for my needs. I will probably add to my rig, as my playing improves, a second keyboard. I have plenty of MIDI controllers, from 25 to 88 keys, so I can select among them… I have also a keytar which could be a nice add on also, set as a secondary keyboard and, when needed, taken out for a ride on the show 😅

But I digress… about the new unit, I don't plan to get one when launched. I have plenty to learn from the current one!. But, as I did with my MONTAGEs, after two-three years on the market, I am sure a used one would be lots cheaper than new. And I don't need it to be brand new.

So, well, I hope they add some VA engine and drawbars and a proper touch screen and… 🤩

That'll save you space, weight, and the keytar's action is so, so much better anyway.

Alas, it seems most studios are gone and computers has evolved.
