Who is the sexiest pianist?

A similar thread was posted on PW a while back. Some of you may have responded there, but as far as I recall, there were plenty of calls for closure of the thread because of sexism and offensiveness. I’m hoping for a more open-minded crowd here. The way I see it, visual aesthetics is undeniably a part of a performance, albeit (usually) to a lesser degree than musical skill. This includes the looks of the performer(s). All else being equal, I enjoy watching a concert by a beautiful performer more than a concert by a not so beautiful one. I don’t think this is sexist, I think this is just the way how most people are wired in almost all situations in life. If you do feel that this is sexist or offensive, please just skip this thread. So this being a piano forum, who do you regard to be the most sexy pianist? I’m all for gender equality here, so no matter if the person is female, male, or non-binary. For me, there can be only one.

I saw Valentina in Ft. Lauderdale many years ago. She was and is a superb performer.

Ralphiano There are no physically unattractive female pianists with a large public concerts-on-Youtube that I can think of.

Angela Hewitt, Martha Argerich, Beatrice Rana, Simone Dinnerstein, Valentina Lisitza…. comes to mind right away. There are probably more. While all of these ladies, I would consider, pretty and elegant - none of them are 'Lola'. The only female pianist who has a 'sex appeal' that is (deservedly) super popular and is respected by critics and audiences both is Yuja Wang (to my knowledge).

Just came back. Lisitza is absolutely brilliant! Playing Rachmaninoff like that is not an easy feat! I don't think she's even remotely sexy but there's a certain nobility to her which is very attractive.

Neither do I, but I would say she does seem to ooze a heavy sensuality (if that sentence even makes sense), and she is not exactly shy about being on camera. I saw one of her videos that was essentially centrered on her crotch and her thighs, seen from above.

I've had that same response to Valentina Lisitza. I think it comes from my perception that she is not marketing sex, but is strictly about achievement and the music.

My other guilty pleasure is Tiffany from Hong Kong:

She releases vlogs about once per week from all around the world as she tours - she's not just a great pianist, she's also a cool, humble person 🙂

The only down side is that she's sponsored by Steinway & Sons, so if Steinway sound isn't your cup of tea then bad luck!

Notice that girl never shows her face in her videos… But she has no problems in showing all the other parts of her body…

Anyway I think her fanbase is more interested in her (usually very skimpy) cosplaying more than her pianistic skills…

On a more serious note, I feel sorry for the lady. Apparently a crumb from her pre-performance Snickers bar landed on and stuck to the right front part of her outfit. Poor thing! 😅

Is it fair to say Yuja Wang is “patient zero” for this “slutty-pianist” outbreak? (Not that I have a problem with that).

My respect goes out to Yuja for having the balls to show it -almost- all, and by that, starting a movement, “The Yujas”, that will rock the classical foundations to its bear bones; and in the process, a new paradigm will emerge!

I will applaud in-between movements if I feel like it; I will cheer-on the Yujas of this world, place a hold on small talk, and let loose my innermost self! (Lola should also get some credit). 😆

You know, drew-r, Lola is CG’s favorite gal pianist. He insists it’s not her looks but rather her singing-heart he’s after, but somehow I don’t believe him! 😉

I love Argerich, and I mean no disrespect, but as of lately she’s not even showing her face. All I see is a bundle of hair wobbling atop the keys, but I must say, she can still play them octaves.
