It's not a problem to add categories. When I created this forum I had no big plans for it, TBH 😃 I mostly wanted to test what it is to install a forum software and I specifically wanted to install Flarum (this software) because I've seen it looks nice and simple and supports mobile phones in a nice way. Then when this forum got traction I thought that maybe we can start using some tags for off-topic and fun. But people also started discussing pianos and so I added those tags too and reorganized the structure... So, why not? If more people start talking about that, I will create the tags. At least it's very easy with tags, I can always create them and threads can be assigned multiple tags at any time.

That makes sense. Can you make a "pinned at the top" message (in each subforum) explaining some FAQ such as what you just wrote here and describing what the particular subforum is about and …. whatever else we'll need. I guess that may need a new plugin…

If you click on the "Tags" on the left, there will be a new screen open where the tags hierarchy is visible and I created some (funny) descriptions regarding tags.

The thing with tags is they are not sub-forums but rather labels to threads. You assign them to threads, there are primary ones and optional secondary ones (you can assign multiple of them). Then you can just open threads from a certain tag easily. It needs a bit of getting used to if you're coming from a traditional forum but ultimately it's really easy.

Everything sounds good. If you make a piano technician tag I'll invite the few ones I have direct contacts to join.

Also, it would be nice if more show on the left, e.g. the DIY which instead you have to go into "more" and see only in a new page

The tags that get lost on the left are the secondary ones. They are just some optional tags that you can apply to every category, and you can apply multiple of them. And there are three primary tags, it's mandatory that you choose one of them when posting. I can create a fourth primary tag about technicians if there are enough of them who would like to join.

And I guess I will have to pin a Welcome thread at the top with some links or explanations about how to post pictures, what are tags, etc. We've already discussed some of those in various posts and it might be worth it to merge all that in a single page.

I don't know whether or not there will be a lot of technicians interested in joining, but without such a tag I suspect many of them will feel this forum is not for them. I suggest you create that and perhaps you'll delete it in a few months if that audience does not show up
