Yah, tofu should be treated more like an ingredient than a food. Kinda in the same way that it's better to cook with flour than eat it raw. 😃
When we do eat tofu in its standard form, it's generally marinated and baked, or seriously fried and topped with BBQ sauces or the like. Otherwise, it's something that gets blended / mixed up with other ingredients (e.g., to make a spread to put on bread or crackers).
EDIT: On a related note, my spouse is always happy to share vegan recipes, of which she has an obscene number, should anyone be interested in anything in particular.
