My title here was something i found as an inserted graphic quoted in a video among the several videos in the “ you may also be interested in” list that popped up on the right side bar of my browser after i found a video on a totally unrelated topic (orgonite).
I am speculating that some of the underlying web protocols connected with browsing, videos, etc are allowed to search the cache of cookies on the computer of a person who clicked on a video link from the list of search results upon them searching for some topic. In other words, i used the search string “ don croft etheric warriors”, and among the results was a video by Don’s widow …. so, i watched about 15 seconds of the intro and then my focus was distracted by the various off topic other videos that appeared on the right side bar, including “this one “- https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dgUnUd9oBSc
This brings up another off-topic. When the clack started a year ago and members were often embedding video links, pics, etc., but eventually some few members complained that they did not want to automatically see the embedded picture or video, after which the forum was altered so that those members would be spared from such insults. I seem to recall the new logic was, when typing up your post, you click the links icon in the editor and then you could insert a title / description, and when members read the post, they could click or “hover” near the embedded title / description if they wanted to view the pic or video, and if they did not want to see the pic/video, all they had to do was not click or hover near the embedded title / description.
Prior to today, its been a few weeks or so since i last embedded a video or pic. Since then ive cleared safari web cache a few times, so i still do not know how youtube decided to include the list of videos in the side bar that it did BUT i now also see that i once again do not understand why the Ckack’s video/pic-embedding logic has once again changed with my having missed this news.
In the above quoted text “this one” , i intended that to be the title/description that readers could either click on or bypass if they did or did not want to see the embedded pic or video, but today, when i click on the links icon in the editor, the only thing that happens is the editor inserts the text
“ (https://) “ into my post. I can imagine that for some members who regularly write code, they can figure out the new logic, but i am not one of those 🙁. Now it seems i must submit my post just so i can view what it looks like and if it doesn’t look the way i intended, i then have an invisible timer to race against in editing my post to get it to look like i intended before the edit timer expires…. i guess i am one of those old-schoolers who liked the “preview your post before you post it” feature such as the old PW forum supports.
Anyway, i really wanted to just embed the frickin title to a video that gave members the option to bypass the video or watch it since it contains the quote “ I don’t hear Bach, i hear Gould” since this seems to somewhat resonate with some of the sentiment within the who?/Bach? is the all tine best composer ….…… sigh.
