LOL, this thread is like a blast from the past - I remember hearing most of these songs rather frequently growing up.
I like a lot of these too, and I think that many of the songs themselves are actually quite lovely and well crafted on their own. It’s often the video portion and (occasionally) the arrangements that make them seem way cheesier than they actually are.
I remember thinking the MTV-style music video of the 80’s and 90’s was strange even at the time, but boy that whole aesthetic really hasn’t aged well. 😯
