On the one hand, lack of USB audio is a significant tell from my view. This further tells me why the other hand/extreme is becoming more common by fiat / de facto rationale …. you get it by say so, not whether you want/need/like it.
When i bought HP508 in December 2015, newer DP designs from Roland, Yamaha & Casio with USB audio were already a new loud big thing. Since then, ive already noticed for at least a couple years that at R & Y , this has already become a silent thing; they generally do not bother to advertise that their DPs support USB audio. Shoppers must infer they do upon noticing these DPs include a To-Host port, MEANWHILE Y & R and others are hyping wireless/Bluetooth audio support like it is ( will be someday) the best thing since sliced bread.
SmartPhones generally no longer come with actual headphone ports; Ipads & tablets no longer come with physical buttons for basic control that have been superseded by (poorly interpreted) gestures control. In fact, my go-to older iPad does have a headphone jack and a Home button and 2 volume buttons plus a fourth control button BUT this did not prevent Apple by way of ios 15 update earlier this year infiltrating my trusty older ipad with new age gesture features which continue to invoke themselves upon me by hideous accident , not any intentional action on my part ….. these are all tells, just like the shiny new px Casio thingy on a sawhorse sans USB audio 😐
