Yamaha Modx been replaced?

I have for a while been thinking that Yamaha are going to replace the modx with the big price reductions in Uk. Just seen this on the Bax-shop site

Highly doubtful IMO. They would first upgrade its bigger brother the Montage.

I am afraid we will not be receiving any more new stock of this model, as they have been discontinued. At present we are not aware of what will replace it, if at all.

musicman100 that’s interesting. I think the MODX is a great board for the money. I sold mine though since it was pretty unintuitive to use and program. If it had better and more intuitive workflow together with Virtual Analog engine, I would’ve kept it.

Do you rate the sounds?

All sounds were great. But they were all sample-based or FM, so the pure analog type of sounds were not very rich, that’s where it needed an improvement IMO.

I have another theory, based on availability on a very well known European online seller… I would say Yamaha is saving the scarce ICs for the Montage series. Availability on that website is shown as 'temporarily unavailable' for MODX6 and 8, 11-15 weeks for the MODX7, 8-11 weeks for Montage 6, 4-6 weeks for Montage 7 and in-stock for Montage 8

So I guess there is some production issues but not replacements right now.

Time will tell!
