My New Yamaha Acoustic Grand Piano

The church in Oregon that I will be serving as pastor in has a Yamaha acoustic grand (sorry for the clickbait title😀). I was here today unloading stuff at the church, getting a P.O. Box, attending prayer meeting, meeting some members, and I'll be heading home tomorrow. After everyone left I decided to take a closer look at the piano in the sanctuary that I'll have access to. It's a Yamaha G3. It seems a bit small for this size sanctuary. I guess that's why they have a mic under it.

This sanctuary is climate controlled 100% of the time, but the piano seems to need a tuning. Here is a sample of the sound captured with my iPhone.

The action on this piano seems nice. Very much like my N1X. I'll be starting here officially in August. Then I'll do some pivot length and key weight measurements. 😀

I wonder if an N3X played through its speakers and also through added ‘external speakers’ simultaneously (this is possible, right?) would be a better solution for this place/space; which does seem a little too large for the G3 to handle/cover?

Then there’s also no needin’ a tunin’ every six months; new strings/hammers every few years, a’ frequent voicin’/regulatin’ (come to think of it, the expense incurred by an N3X will more than pay for itself).🙂
