What are these people compensating for?
Surely, an 18 feet piano is trying to prove something, but what?
Why don’t we spend more time trying to shrink the grand/volume without affecting tone quality, and stop blaming short pivots for all our shortcomings!
And I agree with Drew-r, “it’s not your tiny hands, but rather Rachmaninoff’s fault!”
I’m fed up with the term “pianist-hands;” which implies hands the size of King King (perhaps perfectly suited for the 18’ piano), and has frustrated many young minds; because an a-hole teacher has told them, “do something else; you don’t have pianist -King Kong- hands.”
Efff them, I say, for it is not the -tiny- hands, but rather the bad music/teachers that deserve a spanking or two!
Once again, what are we trying to prove here?!
