Spinning this conversation on its own thread, since I consider this one "technical" and the other "artistic" and I prefer to not mix my right and left brains 😅
@navindra Why are you working on a hybrid when you have a fine acoustic?
Because there are two pianists in the home and hence I "need" 🤣 two pianos. It used to be three pianists and for a short while I indeed had three pianos (the upright I was playing Maple Leaf Rag on, a tiny grand which you can see on page 2 of the channel, and an inexpensive digital). But then my youngest daughter quit piano and switched to clarinet only, so my wife "convinced" (=forced) me to downsize to only two pianos (plus violin and clarinet, of course). I upgraded the grand and I kept upgrading the digital until I hit the NU1 which was good, and you can see it in action here

But then I longed for more and more and more 🤣 and could not afford (neither justify) the expense, and I like DIY…. In fact I was thinking of building an acoustic clavichord, perhaps with a reduced octave size, or a digital with a reduced octave size or… a Cybrid. The latter won (for now, at least 🤣)
navindra Perhaps you could retrofit the acoustic with PNOScan or something.
IMHO, PNOScan is overpriced for its performance. I'm not saying it's not worth it in terms of labor, but I expect the hybrid I'm building to knock its socks off as a pure musical instrument. And moreover PNOScan is not really a DIY project (even should I have installed it myself), it does risk ruining or at least reducing the value of the acoustic, and it does not provides the solution to my (other) daughter and I always deciding to play at the same time, or when someone else wants quiet time….
