I hold no brief for Yuja... but colour me curious:

When and where did you sample Yuja to know with certainty that her pheromones float your boat?!
And more importantly to enable you to determine whether you've been sold counterfeit pheromones! (a Chinese counterfeit of a Chinese product may prove already difficult enough to detect!)

A 3.5 m/s velocity note played by a human should not be different than an other 3.5 m/s played by a robot. But trying to build a homogeneous layer at a given fixed velocity is surely easier and more precise with a robot.

It is plan on Pianoteq X (10 in roman letter). It will send directives to a flagrance diffusor. Some will complaint : it is not the real thing, some will reply, this makes the play more lifeful.

To make the virtual player swear, you will have to play demanding pieces, not Beethoven’s Ecossaise.

And cartridges (especially pheromones cartridges) are even more expensive than those of inkjets.

English is not my native language either, but in my usage they are very different.

If you sample some food, you eat a small piece of it. If you probe it (which is something I would never say) you poke it with your finger or perhaps with silverware. You have audio samples which you know what they are. You use probes (which you likely know what they are) to attach to some internal point of the circuit, to measure something (I am not sure if the last "measure" can be said as "sample").

So to me "sample" means that you somewhat "take away" something for your use, whereas "probe" means that you "try" that thing but without really "taking away" anything, and you walk away "empty-handed". Hopefully a native speaker can elucidate better.

On a different topic, @CyberGene do you mind moving conversation about Ms. Wang in a separate thread? I think that was the main precondition of this forum: allowing and welcoming everybody, but still keeping the threads somewhat sane. While I (personally) am not bothered by such a conversation per se, I think that's a better solution and hopefully mitigates the understandable irritation of @eddiepiano and of others who may have not spoken out.

If some people are not convinced, I have just read about a future political meeting with an immersive cube (50m x 50m), 360° screens… and flagrance diffusor (perhaps natural flagrance will be given with ecological speeches…). The politician had already given some speeches as an hologram and was present in two towns simultaneously.

I’m of the opinion that nothing should be forbidden on a forum (except for hate speech, rude personal attacks and insults) and that conviction is one of the reasons to create this forum. I also believe limitations and bans ultimately create more problems and activate dormant pressure and bad stuff in the long run. On the contrary, I firmly believe people can self-regulate when they are totally free to say anything they want which was proven with some of the very first discussions on this forum related to the woke, gender pronouns, etc. It created some slight heat and then we all moved on to discussing pianos.

You do belong here, and you have a right to an opinion, so once again, I’m sorry.

Now, we do get a little carried away, but at least for me, it’s not an agenda (making fun of Yuja), and in reality it doesn’t matter to me what she wears or doesn’t wear; it’s just one of those things that can get out of control very quickly.

BTW, I do think she’s a good pianist!

Just recently I got into a fight with eddie, and for what, Ms. Wang!

So you can move her anywhere you want because the truth is that I am done!

P.S.

Please forgive if I use a little too much spice at times, for as my father used to say,

“Pete, a little spice makes the stew better, but too much spice spoils it”.

So yes, my soup will be served with less spice henceforth, or perhaps with no spice at all (it’s healthier that way).

I'll see how it goes because I think we would agree that the Yuja Wang stuff here is not something deserving its own thread 🙂 It's just an occasional humor, maybe not funny for everybody, I agree about that. If it keeps on, then I will move it into a separate thread.

Pete was not here at the time (don't remember if eddie was...), but for myself I don't feel the need to have the same discussion over and over again.

@Pete14 On this forum you and anybody else are free to move freely between purgatory, heaven and hell, at your choice. The Omnipotent @CyberGene will be able to move your sins (posts) at His will to the appropriate places, and could move you too (or incinerate you with His lightning bolt which you can see next to His name), but He has decided to let you alone with your free will. And to let you roam freely as you please. Anybody may pray Him to do something, especially moving some sins out of view, and He might or might not listen to such prayers.
