CyberGene I also read about Pearl River and how their grands are half the price, yet are praised as having almost the same quality as Yamaha and Kawaiā¦
I also heard about this, and it goes to show that piano-making is a craft that can be developed & improved, and not some godly gift given to the few, so, donāt fall for the Steinway hype and their āhand-made by the godsā BS!
Now, on the matter of the hybrid, it all comes down to having a real action (and thereās value to that), volume control so you can play at night, the ability to āemulateā a CFX today, and/or a Steingraeber tomorrow, and all but no maintenance requiredā¦..and this matters to a lot of peopleā¦.IMHO!
Iāve also noticed that unlike āconventionalā digitals, hybrids tend to hold their value, so, a Clavinova CLP-380 is worth close to nothing today; whereas, I still see the old GrandTouch holding its value much better, and yes, itās the action, and the fact that the outdated sound can be upgraded with a VST.
Here, the old GrandTouch kicking some ass (and I believe this is the onboard sound):
