Going back at least 15 years and closer to 20 years, i had noticed the trend that ‘they’ were gradually making the Internet experience more like MSM TV and less like the original Internet experience i found most gratifying - being in control of the interactive process of navigating minutes and hours while finding/reading/learning ‘pulling’ relevant off-broadway information.
The typical tv experience has long been: a person plops down in easy chair, points clicker at the box, selects a channel, sits back and thats it as far as cognitive requirements ‘interaction’ goes, all one needs to do at that point is sit back and let the ‘push’ ‘relevance’ TV experience wash over them .... and maybe now and then stir enough ‘think’ to use the clicker to change channels .... order a pizza or other mindless activity of which the big media networks are in control.
