This phrase essentially sums up my opinion on Spirio.
I recall several years ago, being interested in a new Model B. I kept asking the salesman about the voicing of the piano, and remarking on the beautiful sounds of that (particular) piano. Basically I was interested in the Model B itself.
He then goes on, for an eternity, about the Spirio system (since that instrument had one), and about 95% of his pitch was about Spirio this, Spirio that. At some point it got annoying.
It's one thing to spend a lot of money on something I want (e.g., I spent quite a lotta bread on a couple of pianos - and certainly one could argue I overpaid). But It's another thing to me to spend a lot of money on... uh, Spirio.
Spirio - cute, nice to have. Not essential at all... at a massive premium, in order to sustain the revenue and bottom line and equity, its hedge fund.
Lastly, I think-think that the most key target market for Spirio is for someone(s) who generally has the following combination: 1) plenty of discretionary spending; 2) has a nice/opulent space; 3) has cocktail/dinner parties; 4) does not play the piano; 5) is cognizant of the dazzle that the Steinway brand evokes to audiences.
Above is perhaps big-time caricature and inaccurate. But that's what comes to mind for me.
I'd love to hear anyone here who bucks my stereotype above, so that I can be corrected in my mindset! 🙂 🙂
