I was playing my Modern D yesterday through my Genelecs at a moderate volume. My wife was listening and rather than telling me to turn it down like she usually does, 😀 she says, "that sounds nice." She was referring to the sound of the piano. I asked her what she liked about it and she did not use the words that we might use like warm and resonant, etc., she just said, "it sounds natural." What a good description from a non-enthusiast.

I've never been as happy with a VST as I am with the Modern D. I was excited about Ivory 3 because of the playability. It was an improvement compared to the VSL pianos I had been using, but the tone of the Ivory 3 was not quite there. I feel the Modern D has it all if you like Steinway concert grands. It was worth the wait. VI Labs did an amazing job.

I recall getting the Modern D at full price ($249), but nonetheless feel it was worth it still!

HeartKeys If I were you, I would have bought it during the $200 special., if I had known that the original price is$ 50 more expensive. Maybe it's just me, but I always love a good deal. 🙂

it's always a blessing when a non musician tells you something positive about the vst you're excited about, I've experienced it a lot

but the last time was about a week ago, i was playing the chris hein solo viola while my sister was cleaning her room, and suddenly i saw her standing behind me, she was stunned by the realism of that sampled library and said "this… this is a virtual one right? wow"😄❤️

unfortunately for me, I've spent all of my BF money on some kontakt libraries such as the chris hein solo strings, so I can't get the MD right now and of course a piano isn't a priority for me right now (i have more then i can use in a lifetime😬) but I'm looking forward to get it, maybe one or two months from now 🙂

and if it truly is what people are staying, i might end up selling every other virtual piano that i have, except moden u (an upright is always great for minimalistic compositions)

pianow So far, Modern U and Modern D are very unique piano products, even by VI Labs' catalogue. I feel they are uniquely programed and recorded, in a way I've never felt such realism. And once I record with any of them, I get production-ready tracks. It's all I'm looking for in a piano VST.

As an early adopter, I appreciate the gesture of not including Modern D in the 35% off deal, but still offering a meaningful discount.

Nearly two months in, I still can't say anything truly negative about the library. It's the best overall VI I've ever used, and I would say even at full price, it's totally worth it.

At $50 off, if you're even vaguely interested in a piano VI, it should be at the top of the short list.

Argyris I feel the same way. It's really kept my practicing up, I always feel there's something new to experiment with this library. 🙂
