Modern D was a surprise to me, and not just because of the sudden announcement. Ever since the Ravenscroft, I'd had it in the back of my mind that they might eventually try something like a Shigeru Kawai, since they seem to like taking the less conventional path. When Modern U came out, I was even more sure that the next grand they sampled would be something uncommon. Also, they'd already done a Steinway D with True Keys, and an American one at that, so I never thought they'd do another one.
I'm certainly not disappointed. It's just not at all what I expected.
