Windows 11 hardware requirements:
- It requires 4GB of RAM.
Ok. I think 4GB today is the minimum amount to be able to open a browser and keep 2 or 3 tabs open without slowdowns.
- It requires a storage device of at least 64GB.
That's good. Hopefully we'll not see anymore those ridiculous netbook devices with 32GB of storage space. When you installed Windows on them you got maybe 3-4GB of free space if you were lucky!
- It requires a motherboard UEFI/Secure Boot capable.
Ok… I think it's from 10-15 years that most PC have UEFI firmware + secure boot, so this is a reasonable request.
- It requires a DirectX12 compatible graphics card.
Well… Technically speaking I don't see why a DX11 card should not be able to open and move some windows on the screen when the same card is able to render great 3D graphics of games like The Witcher 3 with reasonable framerate.
- It requires a CPU Intel of 8th generation or equivalent AMD (at least 1GHz with 2 or more cores).
What?? So my 4th gen i7 3.2GHz (quad-core) CPU could not run Win11 while a new Celeron 1GHz dual-core could do it? This is just ridiculous.
- It requires a TPM chip in your motherboard (and it should be a 2.0 TPM chip, not a 1.2 one).
Why?? TPM for home usage is not essential. They say that a TPM chip enforces more security in your system against malware and virus… IMHO I've seen many computer (not mine) with viruses and TPM chip installed. Personally I never use antivirus and I don't have virus or malware in my PC. Why? Because I never install closed software from untrusted sources, I never use "crack" and similar hacking-tools and I never run suspect programs attached to emails. IMHO, if you want more security just write better software, and "educate" people to not click YES on any pop-up they see on the screen, rather than relying on a chip (which IMHO gives you a false sense of greater security. Everything can be bypassed!).
Anyway, Win11 is a great OS because it will help the world economy. Just trash your old unsupported i7 PC with 32GB of ram and buy a new PC with Celeron 1GHz and 4GB of RAM!! Yeah! 👍️
Personally, I'm migrating all to Linux. I'm too old for this speedy progress. 😆
