“Clean & Modern.”

I’ve been informed (by my informant) that a certain forum looks identical to this one, yet some guy named David has called it “clean & modern,” but I wonder, did such forum use the same ‘designer’ we have, because, once again, it looks identical!

I’m not one to tell on others, but it seems highly coincidental that the above mentioned forum hired our highly-qualified designer to create an exact replica:

“So, Mr. owner, what do you want, something clean & modern?”

“Could you simply make it look like PC?”

“Sure, why not, it’s not like they own me; as a matter of fact, I’ve still to get paid for my services, so screw them.”

Ok …. dat's it Pete!! We know the rules here about talking about intelligent design. Oops … maybe no rules. All good.

PianoTell uses the same open-source forum software called Flarum that we use. That’s a good testament for PianoClack, apparently it was a good choice that I made, so Navindra decided to use it too.

Besides, if for some reason one of the forums can’t exist no more, it would be easier to migrate the discussions and users to the other 😀 Just kidding. Or not… 🧐

The pianoworld forum … whatever platform it is .. phpbb or whatever it is, could become very formidable with an upgrade. Keeping the same paging setup … and add direct pics/music audio file upload, and all the modern goodies.

Might get around to checking to see if they did get around to such upgrades, or if those developers are still operating.

SouthPark My gut feeling is that the owners of PW don't want to put any real money into the site, and that entails keeping it like it already is. But gut feelings are not always right.

QuasiUnaFantasia I have the same feeling. Will be interesting to find out what nutcase is behind vscope, to be so unprofessional right from the very start of their ownership of pw. It wasn't even in the amateur category. They basically left PW unattended for a week or two, and failed to intro themselves, and welcome the members, and set terms/conditions. Total debacle … ok failure.

Yes the New forum has a lot of traffic, it's a pity that this traffic is jot converted here 🙂

However I opened new account there and always have info that forum is fully moderated and have to wait few hours for acceptance of my post, but maybe this is because my account is new.

But there is still one moderator who is not funny at all and also heavy handed. Maybe he will be less now as he wrote that there is a lot of work to be done

I can see why a new piano forum would want to emulate PianoClack.

I’m not sure what gave you the idea that I was talking about this so-called “PianoTell,” for I simply stated “a certain forum” looked identical to this here PC, but I never mentioned TacoBell…..I’m sorry, PianoTell!😇

Well, there's "a lot of traffic" which Navindra*) is currently experiencing, and there's "quality traffic" which I sincerely hope we can and will maintain on our 'Clack.

*) Boy oh boy, I don't envy him with the current state of affairs. I have a gut feeling he's getting more/quite different than he's wished/bargained for. I wish him the best in all of this and hope he still is enjoying his initiative.

MacMacMac Gombessa got banned, and nobody knows why (and that includes himself).

But in my view that is par for the course at PW; people get banned over there from time to time, their posts get deleted, and no one is told why. Was it ever different?

I had the same thought, but the vibes of the sites are stunningly different, in my opinion. I'm not sure either site would be happy with a merge, but who knows what the future holds.

On the weekend I will see if I can get PT working in a Docker container on my laptop. I've never done it before, but I'm thinking I'll start with a single container for the frontend and backend rather than two separate ones to start out with.

Got a lot of learning to do and so little time. Need to figure out CloudFlare, storage, SMTP, and of course, which hosting I'll end up with. Containers won't work on shared hosting unfortunately.

Khuja Wangtishvili The mods on PW are overwhelmed with spam, so new users have to go through a probation period. There's a probation period here on PC as well.

It's the cruel and uncalled for banning of Gombessa that guts me.

Everyone else on PT is super nice and supportive for a change, and the operator of FreeFlarum is amazing as well.
