Well, it's never the case that I go down the year focusing on tech, but 2023 brought about some great technology for me that now that I look at it, I feel very grateful. So on this waltzing day (12/31/23), allow me to indulge myself a little. 🙂
1. Starting at the beginning of the year, the Babyface Pro FS has been revelatory for me to use, both as a VST driver and daily listening to music. They say the source is key, I guess this is correct. The detailed sound is fun to listen to, and I enjoy how much it allows me to explore music in refreshing ways.
2. This past fall, I got the Dynacaster microphone to work with my Babyface, and be an audio source as I Zoom around the Internet, teaching lessons, conferencing, and talking with friends. The built-in preamp has allowed louder sound with lower noise, and it's a fun experience using this microphone whenever I need it.
3. The Focal Shape 65s were not planned for, but I couldn't have asked for a better pair of speakers. The sound is detailed and fun to listen to, and the tweeter never cause listening fatigue for my daily use. What's more, the built-in amp is no longer hissing at me from my sitting position. That was my main reason for upgrading from the KRK Rokit5s I used to own.
4. Lastly, I'm about to say hello to the Sennheiser Momentum 4 noise canceling headphones at the beginning of 2024! I don't know if it will cause ear pressure for me, and I don't know how well the noise canceling and ambient mode will be. But I've read some reviews and am willing to try them. I'm glad I got them at 25% off, a good deal for a pair of premium headphones.
So much for a techie year, revolving around audio products. I'm glad the money was spent hitting the right spot every time I've made a purchase (well, at the end of the day, it's a gamble, really). I hope I'm that lucky in 2024!!!
Happy new year to everyone, and hope you are having a wonderful time with family and friends!!!
