The VSL Steinway and Fazioli are certainly very different and this is a nice comparison. I didn't really care for the Fazioli at first, but it has been growing on me more over the past few weeks, and I'm glad I have it. It has a pleasant tone and exceptional clarity, along with a certain mellow vibe that the other grands don't.
I still maintain it sounds most at home in more contemporary music as opposed to standard classical, and I find the richer overtones of the Steinway, CFX and Bosendorfer Imperial make it easier to draw contrasting colors, however I think I now prefer the Fazoli over the 280VC, as these are more similar to each other than the others.
