Following @Del Vento suggestion (hey, the guy's Italian AND a Linux user but let's not hold those things against him 🙂) I wrote an alternative SFZ file with the following values:

C1 octave cutoff=1200 volume=-1.5

C2 octave cutoff=1300 volume=-1.5

C3 octave cutoff=1400 volume=-1.5

C4 octave cutoff=1500 volume=-1.5

C5 octave cutoff=1600 volume=-1.5

C6 octave cutoff=1700 volume=-1.5

C7 octave cutoff=1800 volume=-1.5

Thanks - this sounds really good!

Upon further experimentation, maybe the baseline soft pedal volume could be slightly increased (to like -2 or -2.5) but I think it's easy enough to adjust that anyone can set it according to their personal preference.

In any case, I hope these pedaling enhancements eventually get phased into the other models. 😁

When you say "increased" and then say "-2 or -2.5" (negatives values larger than 1.5) do you mean make it louder or softer?

Sorry, I mean make it slightly softer. So instead of volume=-1.5, it could be one decibel softer at volume=-2.5

Hi. I measured the loudness per velocity. It seems that the following 4 samples are quieter a little.

PD-C1-127, PD-D#1-127, PD-F#1-127, PD-A1-127

By the way, I feel this piano sounds wetter than the other 4. It reminds me of a room with a high ceiling like a steps hall. Or microphone settings are different from the other 4?

zeldalink Yes, the C. Bechstein was recorded in a large hall with high, vaulted ceiling.

There were a few notes with apparently lower velocity in the left channel, maybe that's what you found.

As you are now handling the samples again: Is there any chance to have the bass notes completely ring out?

Some of the bass notes are clipped of before their sustain fades naturally.

This is obviously not important for any written music.
But the rich timbre of your samples invites me to lay a drone and just for fun put some harmony on top.
A sudden end of the foundational tone comes like a disruption.

Rhodes74 The samples are 14 seconds long. Of course, the natural sustain of each piano (especially in the bass range) is much longer. You might try to fiddle with the ampeg_decay=N and ampeg_sustain=N opcodes to see if that helps.

But i never maxed out polyphony and the clipping occurs with single notes.
Also visible in the waveform.

Perhaps ...

1) Set a loop point on all wav files. To avoid the "PianoClack", all loop points must be on 0 crossings.It will be hard work ,coz so many wav files. 2) Set loop_mode=loop_sustain in sfz.
