Spitfire pianos are focused on soundtrack production and are not my cup of tea (and apart from the old Hans Zimmer Piano, as far as I remember none are over 100 euros and don't qualify). But if someone is interested in a very good orchestral library, the Spitfire BBC Symphony Orchestra CORE is a good value at 225. And it has its own sample player (no Kontakt).

Don't be tempted… Save your money for the next VILabs piano or a new SSD…

If you only need something to play around for fun, you already have the highly capable NI Symphony Essentials in the Komplete package (if I am not mistaken)… And you can always get the free version of the Spitifire BBC SO (it's named Discover edition). Subscribe at spitfire to the free version and after 2 weeks they will send you a code to download the free version (4 articulations in the strings, and only 2 in the remaining sections, reduced layers, but still very good sounding).

Unless you are composing for TV or Hollywood, those two are sufficient to sound good and have fun. That is my setup.

EB5AGV: The Spitfire BBC Core is, of course, much better than the Discover edition (the legato patches are very good, and absent in Discover). But on the other hand, for fun projects you cannot really tell a difference and the free version sounds very nice on its own. See if this illustrative video calms down your VST-GAS temptation…

The truth is that I have plenty of orchestral VSTs both paid and free. And that what I need is to learn music and then learn to use them properly.

So, you are completely right, I don't need any more VIs. In fact, I have not bought any for some months, this seems promising 😅
