No “key-off” samples…

No “smooth release”….

I happen to believe that the key-off samples on the P-515 are very well-done, yet also rare, so why exclude these from the P-525; what effing gives, Yamaha!?

This “feature” can be edited (I believe 1-10), and in my H opinion it can be quite effective whence cranked up (mostly as it relates to staccatos and portamentos), so why omit it from the P-525; is Yamaha teasing Pete, is that what it is?

Good one, Yamaha, but you’ve already had a laugh at my expense, so it’s time to stop horsing around and tell us that indeed the cabinet has been completely redesigned, “got you,” and that the frickin’ note-off samples are indeed included in the P-525, “got you, again.”

You’ve had a laugh, and yes, you got me, but it’s time to come clean and stop horsing around, and this is coming from someone who loves to play a prank here and there!

It has been, but it wasn't ready for the tight release date set by Yamaha Marketing.

It will now be included in one of the upcoming firmware updates. Keep your eyes peeled for a firmware number with a '.c' at the end (for cabinet).

A few months after that, there will be a '.c' firmware update for registered existing P-515 customers as well. For a "nominal" fee amounting to 30% of your original P-515 purchase price.

Pete14 A while back I posted a video of a fairly advanced female pianist whence she played some ‘advanced’ (Chopin and the likes) on a P-515, and it seemed she was enamored with the P-515; she then bought a CLP-745 and stated that she preferred the action in the P-515 (NWX)..…I believe her words were “more substantial.”

I guess you mean "Daria piano"? She's a great pianist, I like her YouTube channel where she shares her knowledge and stuff she's learning in an honest an generous way. And I kind of agree with her about the NWX/GT-S.

There's another YouTube channel where there is a dude sitting on his balcony and playing classical pieces on his P-515😊. I don'r remember his name but he's also an excellent pianist.

No, Johanibraaten, I’m not biased (in case you were thinking about that); as a matter of fact, I am the very definition of “fair & balanced,” and never do I take sides, nor bash without -data based- reasons!

P.S.

Have you considered capitalizing your name (handle)? I simply cannot stand lowercase names/handles, for it goes against established standards and rules that are there for a reason; and please, do not get me started on beginning a sentence with a lowercase; as is KFB’s wont!

They probably had a lot of surplus electronic stuff lying around, collecting dust since the 1990's, and eventually some bright soul came up with the idea to use it for a "new" digital piano.

Found this in a thread on PW. Comes from Yamaha support regarding the Grand Touch S compared to the NWX.

1) More grading of key weight between lower and upper register.
2) The fulcrum distance is the same as the NWX/GH3X keyboard, but the fulcrum of the white and black keys is in different locations, similar to the keyboard of an acoustic instrument.
3) Stability with full keystroke gives more control over expressiveness."

Further explanation evidently pointed out that the white keys are that same length/piviots as the NWX, but the black keys have been staggered/extended. So the action should have a different feel overall due due to enhanced grading and longer pivot black keys.

Since Roland does midi better than Yamaha I'll stick with the FP90X for now and enjoy the PHA50.

Interesting, I was under the impression that both black & white keys had longer pivots for the GT-S, but it turns out only the black ones are longer; and here I thought this was stereotypical!

Now, this might explain why the P-525 cabinet depth remains the same, but still, they could’ve made some -other- aesthetic improvements, IMHO!

As for Daria, I once also replied to you that she preferred the P-515 keyboard to the N1X keyboard, so I don't really care about her impressions.

My superficial impression of the GT-s action is that it’s significantly lighter than the NWX, even the white keys. I haven’t played the GT-s a lot though so… I don’ know😶

This is not for fun (promise): it seems to me that digital piano's contain some very cheap electronics, some not very expensive loudspeakers, an action made primarily of plastic, and some painted cheap chipboard or MDF. All this is put together and sold for a very large price. Would it not be preferable to have the cabinet made by a local cabinet maker to one's own specifications, and all the ingredients put into this bespoke cabinet? It could not possibly be more expensive than to have the large Japanese corporations put the parts together.
