pianow There aren't "very limited velocity layers", we have published the information, I will repost here:
Pianoverse's velocity layers are adaptive across the whole range of notes thanks to the algorithm that we developed for precise yet expressive calibration of the robotic-assisted sampling system (with human interaction and checkpoints, more on that below).
Layers can range between 14 and 20 due to our system's calibration of each individual key thus the amount of layers depends upn the dynamic response of each key during the sampling process. Each of these detailed piano virtual instruments in Pianoverse contains over 7,000 samples per piano.
Also note, each of the fine pianos sampled for Pianoverse has its own dynamic response and our system has been created with the intent and purpose to best preserve this fundamental detail.
Of course this calibration is also complemented by professional musicians providing very hands-on interaction and attentino to the finer details in order to ensure the system provides the most realistic and playable instruments possible.
Our journey throughout this Pianoverse project taught us that a piano is something like the people who make and use it, each individual possessing its great qualities as well as imperfections which make up the soul and the sound of the instrument.
Lastly, we spent nearly three years on the development of this system including literally thousands of hours of studio time with all type of pianos, recording, and editing.
