Hi there,

I have the rd2000 and am using it with Reaper.

I love the onboard sounds on the piano. I don't have a ton of VSTs on my mac, but I've started using the midi to record. My question is: is there a way to get the voices from the onboard piano onto my mac where I can scroll through?

I'm trying to use midi so I can easily change voices after recording with one voice. Example, I'm recording with honky-tonk voice and then decide actually I want to hear it with some synth. Right now I need to have some VST or I'd have to just record directly in with the sounds I want. It takes a lot longer and feels like a huge barrier. I've searched for my question but havent really been able to find it.

I see Roland as the midi input so I can record the signal, but I'm trying to find a way to take all those voices onboard and see them in the reaper or any daw's UI. Is that possible? If not, can I buy all of these voices somewhere?

You can't generally buy Roland's digital piano sounds to run from a computer, although there may be some piano sounds available on Roland Cloud.

You can send program change MIDI messages from Reaper to your piano so you can listen to a performance played back via your piano with whatever sounds you like. I'm afraid I don't know the details of the RD2000's MIDI spec. There should be a table at the back of the manual.
