casual play semi-impro (CFX sound set)

Once I get my act together, I can l do a nicer version. But -- here comes some CFX again hehe.

Ignore the mistakes, slightly aggressive play (slight lack of feeling hehe) and things like that.

There's a lot more to the tune that what I had put in to this one. A heap more. I'll get around to doing a good one later.

Here, it's the CFX that counts!

After a take 1, there has to be a take 2 of course. Semi impro - mistakes and all (but care factor-zero). Recorded quickly 5 mins ago. CFX sounds to enjoy. Thank you so much Yamaha P-515.

Basic scale exercises etc can sound quite alright after all.

Also - to those OPP people that reckon P-515 NWX is heavy, crusty etc. Then I can say - heavy, crusty etc MY FOOT!

Another semi-impro variant done 15 mins ago. A more relaxed listening version. Wasn't thinking or thinking/reacting fast enough toward the end, so will have to work on various portions a bit. I shouldn't have closed proceedings with those three notes played in a row (at the end) - which is a bit slack heheh. Or at least played those three ending notes a bit slower for a better feel.

Much room for tinkering and enjoying though.

I'd like to hear A/B comparison with CFX/Bosendorfer

David B Will be happy to do one on bosie. I'll record with bosie, and will send the bosie original, and the clone reproduction with cfx to give a bit of a comparison. Will be interesting!

Just whipped this one up about 15 minutes ago - just for a comparison of sounds.

The bosie sound set is what I was playing from. So I'm hearing those bosie sounds when I play and record.

And the CFX one is then a converted version using the CFX sounds instead of the bosie (reference). So if there's any velocity etc differences in notes, then that's probably just due to the samples/level or something.

First up is the bosie.

At least I ended a bit better than with that no-no 'three note solute' thing seen earlier - that I won't usually do.

Here … with loud play hehe. But keeping this one short. A short portion for figuring out the timing of the notes I might want to play. How I want to express it.

This one is the CFX for the loud play. Once again - it's casual type semi-impro - enjoying the sounds from the CFX set.

The CFX seems a bit brighter and the Bosendorfer a bit more mellow. I think I prefer the Bosendorfer.

That's how I feel about VSL Pianos. They are not perfect but they are the ones that I always keep coming back to for realism.

David B Absolutely. It is like that with acoustic pianos as well - not perfect. There will be some elements or aspects that the designers want to eliminate - or reliably eliminate, eg. thuds, clunks, thumps, some times wolf tones, and sometimes bass string ringing/twanging etc.

The P-515 gives me some serious satisfaction in the music I like to play. Fortunate to be living just at the right time heheh.

Also ….. VSL pianos with those excellent options to turn the clunks off gets a both thumbs up.
