Yesterday I was (accidentally, as I was just on a weekend trip with my family) in one of the biggest music shops in Poland. This is complete music shop, so they are selling everything. 6 years ago they had complete floor filled with digital pianos, synths, and so on. 3 years ago they moved to the base floor and decreased capacity to 1/3 of the former one. Yesterday I was speaking with the guy who is responsible for pianos and works there from like 10 years and he told me, that there is no point to hold pianos physically in store, as the amount of people who want to try pianos before purchase is very small, and they areoving pianos to their warehouse in new location and will sell the online only.
I have seen similar trend (but they still have room with pianos) in another big shop, which I am visiting like one a year - they also have smaller amount of pianos on a smaller surface.
But this is related to digital, hopefully will not affect acoustic ones.
