The Crave is arguably the summa of the early 20's jazz piano music, composed by none other than the "Inventor of Jazz" (according to himself 😛), Ferdinand "Jelly Roll" Morton - a super eccentric personality, as you may have guessed. A catchy tune accompanied by Spanishy rhythms: the influence of latin music is clear, taking the form of a Tango with innumerable syncopes - this being a fundamental trait of jazz practice. In endeavouring its performance, I couldn't refrain myself from adding some improvisatory spicing (in the restatement of the A section), hoping to have somehow maintained a consistency in style.
